How to protect an admin’s area in WordPress?

It’s very important to give an access to the admin’s areo only for right people and restrict it from unwanted guests. How to do it and why you should decide for doing it?

Users and guests chance shouldn’t have an access to your account because of the one simple reason – you never know what is going to happen. And of course you may tell us that we probably don’t trust to other people but aren’t we right in what we’re saying? The most important is protection of your content and that is why you should take care about the best you can.

One of the way you can go is restrict admin’s area against the intrusion attempts. The whole process is really easy and we’re sure that you’ll do it without any problems.

First of all, you should get an acces of your own IP (there’s a lot of websites for it) and add these line of text into the .htaccess file:

<Files wp-login.php>
order deny,allow
Deny from all
Allow from xx.xxx.xxx.xxx
</Files>

Of course, there’s an another option, if you would like to allow access from multiple computers, just add another line of text: Allow from xx.xxx.xxx.xxx

If you want to (you should) protect your account against the intrusion attempts, you definitely should  limit the number of possible incorrect login attempts on your website. To do it you just need a right plugin, for example “Limit login attempts”.

For you it’s not a lot of work, right? But for your website, data and all you’ve created so far is a lot. And that is why you should do it right now!
